Mission StatementThe care and welfare of little children was important to the Lord Jesus Christ. First Baptist Church recognizes the responsibility to teach preschool children about God and to provide a happy environment in which they may experience God's love. The primary training of children must take place at home. First Baptist Church aims to provide additional support for the nurture and admonition of little children. We seek to accomplish this in part through the ministries of the Child Development Center
About the CenterThe Child Development Center of First Baptist Church provides full-time childcare for children, from the age of six weeks through the summer after they complete the sixth grade. The Center has some school children who ride the bus to school from here in the mornings and even more who ride here from school in the afternoons. During school holidays and the summer, the CDC provides full-time childcare for school-aged children.
During the school year, preschool classes are provided for three-year-olds and four-year-olds. The children who are enrolled in full-time care go to preschool classes at no extra charge. We also have others who come only for the special preschool classes with a monthly tuition. The CDC uses the nationally recognized A Beka program and has been really pleased with the results. As for special activities, children usually take a trip to the Pumpkin Patch each fall. During the summer, school-aged children go to the City Pool and participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Oneonta Public Library. They also participate in a few activities with the Children's Ministry at First Baptist. Special field trips are announced as planned. All of the children also participate each June in FBC's Vacation Bible School. |
The CDC is currently accepting applications for our 2019-2020 Preschool program.
