Child Development Center

Mission Statement

The care and welfare of children was important to the Lord Jesus Christ.  First Baptist Church recognizes the responsibility to teach preschool children about God to provide a happy environment in which they may experience God’s love.  The primary training of children must take place at home.  First Baptist Church aims to provide additional support for the nurture and admonition of little children.  We seek to accomplish this in part through the ministries of the Child Development Center.

About the Center

The Child Development Center of First Baptist church provides full-time childcare for children who are six weeks of age through the summer after the child completes the sixth grade.  Oneonta City School sends a bus to the center in the morning and in the afternoon. This service is only available to registered students.  The CDC provides full-time school-age childcare for school holidays and summer.

Preschool classes are provided for three and four year olds during the school year.  Children who are enrolled in full-time childcare go to preschool classes at no extra charge.  The CDC uses the nationally recognized faith-based program, A Beka. The preschool usually takes a trip to the Pumpkin Patch each fall.  Other preschool activities are announced as planned.

All age groups are encouraged to participate in First Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School, as well as other activities planned by the church’s Children’s Ministry.
